North Shore.

Oh, how I needed this day. Sunday morning Josh and I jumped in the car and headed up to North Shore for some much needed r&r. It felt sooo good to just get away from it all and enjoy the quiet stillness up there. The first stop was, of course, to get some darn-good food. Shrimp for him and short ribs for me! After our bellies were full, we drove on a little further to our favorite beach that falls within a quiet residential area. We love this beach because most of the time we end up having it almost to ourselves. The water is so warm, sooo crystal clear, and oh... Jack Johnson might just happen to sail right on by with his gorgeous family and park the boat right behind you every once in a while. No big deal.

Yes, Jack Johnson and his family live on this beach. We were basically in their backyard (or front yard?).  Oops? He couldn't have been any nicer. We chatted with him for a minute, took some pictures, and then got to watch him take his little boy out into the water to teach him how to surf. The.Cutest.Thing.Ever.

There was something so inspirational about just watching him live his life. I couldn't help but sit there and think "This is what I want. A simple life on the beach with our kids. Time to just be together." It helped to remind me of WHY we moved here AND that we aren't done reaching our goals. Somehow we will find a way to make it there. It might take a little while, and a lot of hard work, but hey, we've made it this far.

The drive home was full of talks about the future. We might not know exactly what it is going to look like, but we do know one thing - it's going to be good - and that's enough for now.
