A "Lixit" for Olive.

Our pup, Olive, definitely has a mind of her own, and doesn't hesitate to let us know how she feels... about EVERYTHING. It has been fun discovering her personality over the past 5 years, and let me tell you, she has been HERSELF from day one.

At night, she likes to be "tucked in" with her blanket covering her. Her favorite "treat" in the whole-wide-world is a slice of an apple - or the whole thing, if I would let her have it. (She literally has the sound of the knife cutting through the apple MEMORIZED and will come running into the kitchen before I can even finish getting all the way through.) She cannot hear music or clapping - or see someone dancing - without running to grab a toy. She cannot watch stressful situations on TV without crying. (The show Wipeout puts her in a full on panic, and it's pretty hilarious.) Oh yeah... one more thing.

She refuses to drink water out of a bowl. Like, will.not.do.it.

Really, I don't blame her. I mean, GAH-ROSS! The water gets dirty so fast and it all just seems so unsanitary, am I right?! When she was smaller, and was being crate trained, we were able to attach a Lixit Water Bottle to the side of her "room", as we called it, and she was as happy as could be! Now that she's older, and we no longer crate her at night or when we leave, I was stumped on what to do with it. What was I going to attach it to? It took some creative thinking, but I think I have finally created the perfect thing to hold her beloved water bottle!

Behold, my creation!

Below is a diagram of how I made this little contraption! It was CRAZY easy and I spent under $10.00 on the whole thing!

The best part? Olive definitely approves!

Do you have a picky pet? I'd love to hear the funny things that your furry family member likes and dislikes!

Bumpdate! {Week 22}

How far along: 22 weeks!

Baby size: Baby is the size of a spaghetti squash, is 11 inches long, and weighs about 1 pound!

Weight gain: I am up about 7 pounds from my starting weight! (I had to also gain back the 4 pounds that I had initially lost from being so sick!)

Maternity clothes: I can only wear pants that go all the way over my bump! I hate the feeling of my low rise maternity pants and Scout hates them too! Haha. She kicks me all day long if I even try to wear those. =)

Stretch marks: One little tiny one! I have been making sure I put my belly cream on at least once a day!

Sleep: Sleep has been pretty bad the past few weeks. I've been having a lot of back, hip, and leg pain. No matter what I do with pillows, I just can't get comfortable. I end up spending half of the night sitting up. =/

Gender: GIRL! {Scout Everly Davis}

Best moment this week: Josh felt her kick HARD for the first time this week! She kicked his hand twice in a row! I have also started to see movement from the outside of my belly, which is awesome... but weird at the same time!

Looking forward to: Getting the crib set up! It should be delivered today and I can't wait to see it! We decided on a "mini crib" because we live in a one bedroom condo. Scout will have her own little "corner", but there was no way a regular sized crib was going to fit there!

Movement: Yep. SO MUCH. This girl likes to move!

Food cravings: I haven't found that one thing that I crave, but if something sounds REALLY good to me, I will usually eat it! This past week it was a McFlurry one day and then apples and cheese another day. I am just happy if anything sounds good at this point!

 Anything making you sick or queasy: This is the first time I am not going to say "Yes. Everything!" Haha. As of right now, the only thing still making me feel sick is the smell of onions.

Symptoms: Mostly just the pain when I try to sleep. As a result of the bad sleep, I am SO TIRED all.the.time!

Missing: Sleeping on my back and stomach. I have never been a side sleeper!

Belly Button in or out: In, but it is s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g!

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Mood: My mood has been okay - I think! Ha. I have definitely been entering the "nesting phase", so all I have been wanting to do lately is clean and organize and get rid of things and buy things... my husband hasn't really enjoyed that too much, I don't think. ;)

Nursery: We are finally getting things done for Scout's "corner"! I am so excited to share a post on here of her space! So far, I have painted the dresser, hung some decor on the walls, AND covered one whole wall in polka dots! (Josh is definitely still warming up to them!) The crib should arrive today and I can't wait to see how it's going to look!

Well, that's it for week 22! I am SO SO SO happy to be past the nausea and vomiting. That was definitely the worst part of pregnancy (so far) for me! Now that my apatite is back, I am just trying to focus on eating a well balanced diet. The weeks are also passing by quicker, now that I am feeling better, which I am so happy about! We can't wait to meet our little Scout!!! <3

Bumpdate + Life Update! {Week 21}

Where do I start? It has been WAY too long since my last update and so much has happened in the five weeks since I last wrote! Sorry about that.

I gave the weekly "Bumpdates" a break for a while, partially because I was lazy busy, and partially because they were all kind of sounding the same to me. (Example: (Q) Anything making you nauseous or queezy? (A) YES. EVERYTHING.) <--- And that was how it went, week after looong week.

BUT, (and I made that a really big "but" because this is a huge deal) I am finally at the point where the nausea is almost completely gone! It took 20 weeks people. When I look back, I seriously question how I lived through it. Those where probably the hardest weeks of my life, no joke. I am SO thankful to be past that part of pregnancy. Sure, now I am experiencing new symptoms like back/hip/leg pain and not being able to sleep, but I would take those over nausea & vomiting ANY DAY.

About a week and a half ago, we went in for our 20 week ultrasound! I have to admit that I was nervous for this one. Despite everyone saying "Why are you worried? You're young and healthy! She's going to be fine!", I know that that isn't how this whole thing works. I know young, healthy people who have been faced with a diagnosis for their child that they weren't expecting - so I was nervous.

We went into the dark room and we were able to see our sweet little Scout up on the big screen! She was so cute moving all around, giving the doctor good views of all that he needed to see. It was also confirmed that she is still a SHE! Haha. Since we had found out right at 16 weeks, they just wanted to be sure! ;) Everything looked perfect and we could not be more grateful. I will never take having a healthy baby for granted.

Isn't she adorable? We're so in love. =)

A few days ago, Josh and I had a day off together and we decided to make the drive up to North Shore! This is one of our favorite things to do and we don't do it often enough. Although the weather was pretty gloomy, we didn't let that stop us!

Of course we had to stop at the food trucks for lunch! Josh got his garlic shrimp from Giovanni's Shrimp Truck and I ordered a DELICIOUS fried fish Po-boy sandwich with sweet potato fries from a Cajun shrimp truck called "Dat Cajun Guy"! (Josh was jealous of my lunch and will definitely be trying the fried shrimp Po-boy the next time we're up there!)

After finishing our lunch, we ordered some fresh beignets to-go and headed to the beach!

This time we didn't get in the water, but just sitting there watching the waves was all we needed.

Before being chased off of the beach by the rain, Josh was able to snap these quick pics of the growing belly! I feel like I finally "look" pregnant! =)

We are blessed all around - to call this place home, to have a healthy baby on the way - life is good.

16 Weeks! {+ Announcement!}

Oh dear. These "bumpdates" are hard to keep up with, believe it or not! {And sorry they are the only posts I have been doing lately. I'm hoping that will change SOON!} It's not because the weeks are passing quickly. I wish they were, but when you feel sick all.the.time. the days seem to last f-o-r-e-v-e-r. Things are getting better, slowly, but I'm still not at the end of my all-day-sickness quite yet.

I thought about answering all of the 16 week questions late, but decided to just go ahead and skip this week. I have something MUCH more exciting to share anyway!!! ;) I will share one funny moment from this week, though. I was telling my husband, Josh, that our baby was the size of an avocado this week and then I said, "Oh! We should make guacamole this week... or... wait... is that kind of morbid???" Haha. We laughed for a while about that one!

So... onto the exciting news!!! Because I am impatient, and wanted to know as soon as we could, I went ahead and scheduled an "extra" gender reveal ultrasound for a couple of days after I hit 16 weeks! I was SO excited to have the chance to see our sweet little baby again!

The baby was being SO funny during the ultrasound and it was amazing to see all that has changed since our last ultrasound, just 6 weeks ago. The baby rubbed its eyes and belly, held up a "peace" sign to the camera, did some karate, and held onto the umbilical cord. Oh, and our baby does.not.stop.moving! Does that mean we are going to have our hands full? =)

To sum it up, it was probably one of the best days I've ever had.

And now... the moment you have all been waiting for!!!

It's a GIRL!!! We are beyond excited for this little girl to join our lives and cannot wait until she is here. We love her more than words can say already! We have chosen the name Scout Everly Davis - a name we both LOVE.

Thank you to everyone who has sent prayers and good thoughts our way! I am hoping that I will be feeling better very soon. Now I'm off to start SHOPPING!!!
